The inaugural release from Winehounding brings together four wines from J + K Vineyard in the Ballard Canyon AVA.
Each bottling reflects a year of quiet work in the vineyard and a commitment to farming that supports the land rather than taking from it.
Shaped by coastal wind, limestone soils, and careful attention.
Pressed gently. Guided with minimal intervention.
Allowed to become themselves.
This release marks a beginning — rooted in place, memory, and the steady work of hands in the field and the cellar.
J + K Vineyard sits in the heart of Ballard Canyon, defined by coastal influence, limestone-rich soils, and the rhythms of the Santa Ynez Valley. The site is farmed with a focus on long-term soil health, biodiversity, and balance — guided by observation rather than formula.
Each block carries its own character, shaped by slope, exposure, vine material, and canopy structure. Winehounding draws exclusively from these blocks, allowing small differences in place to remain visible.
The Wines
Rosé
Grenache from Block 7, selected for brightness, energy, and natural tension. Alban/Tablas clones on their own rootstock, head trained and densely planted.
Grenache
From Block 3, offering depth, structure, and a grounded expression of the variety.
Viognier
From Block 9, planted to Alban clone on 1103P rootstock. Eighteen rows trained in a Geneva Double Curtain system to encourage balance, airflow, and even ripening.
Syrah
From Block 8, 877 clone on 1103P rootstock, trained to a VSP trellis system supporting precise canopy management and varietal clarity.
Together, these blocks form a small, interconnected landscape. The wines are not designed to smooth over differences, but to reflect them — season by season, block by block, and bottle by bottle.
